German Bohemian Heritage Society’s Autumn Meeting is coming to Sleepy Eye and is open to the public

All are welcome at the German Bohemian Heritage Society’s meeting. You will enjoy live music of the Black Diamonds Band from daughters of our guest speaker. Taste a fantastic German meal, and hear from local author, Barbara Kodet Mages, who will be providing an entertaining talk titled, ‘To Bechyn and Back’, about life, heritage, and family experiences.
Barbara Kodet Mages was born in 1929, just before “The Great Depression”. She has written three books
recalling life as a child on the farm near Bechyn, Minnesota during the depression and World War II. She met and married Alphonse Mages and together they raised a family of 16 children on a farm near Sleepy Eye.
She writes like she talks and shares clear fun anecdotes on life and shows one is never too old for first time experiences.
