At 1:00 pm, a free presentation will include a historical overview of the German Language in New Ulm, learning about the key distinctions between standard High German and dialects such as the German-Bohemian. Learn common phrases and words with audience participation.
Explore the overlapping identities of Germanic regions in Europe, highlighting the distinctions and connections between Germans, Prussians, Bohemians, and Austrians. Clarify the meaning of the Holy Roman Empire and how it affected the lives of your Germanic ancestors and all of Europe.
Journey through time showcasing photos from recent visits to ancient villages in the former German-Bohemian regions. Highlighting preserved architecture, landscapes and local landmarks. Discuss how exploring these villages deepens our understanding of a unique heritage.
Enjoy entertaining stories and unexpected connections while learning about this scenic, cultural region of Central Europe with its exciting layers of history!
